Day 5：劇場とスポセンと図書館 Theater, YMCA, and the Library

 今日もたくさんの写真をアップして、お送りします。シェルドン劇場やレッドウィング市立図書館など、レッドウィング人にとても愛されている場所を見学しました。写真の下に説明がありますが、不明なら連絡をお願いします。それでは、たくさんのコメントを待ってます。

まずシェルドン劇場に行きました。
そこで、舞台のカーテンや点灯の作業を体験しました。
カウンターウエイトという重しがロープに付いていて
平衡を保つので、一人でも簡単に動かせます。
First we headed to Sheldon Theater.
There,we got a chance to work the mechanisms that control the
stage curtains and lighting.
Counterweights attached to the ropes balance out the weight,
making it easy enough for one person to move on their own.

みんな一回動かしてみました。
Everyone gave it a try.

点灯の色や位置を変える方法も習いました。
We also learned how to change the lights' color and position.

劇場を案内してくれたのはシャーンさんという
劇場委員会でボランティアとしてはたらいている人でした。
The person who showed us around the theater was a man
named Shawn who volunteers as a member of the theater staff.

屋根裏部屋まで案内してもらいました。
そこから見た眺めです。
We were even shown the attic of the theater.
From there you get this spectacular view.

舞台の点灯コントロールルームで一般の点灯方法を説明しました。
Basic lighting controls were explained to us in the lighting control room.

劇場ツアーが終わったら、舞台に上がって写真を撮りました。
We got up on stage and took a picture at the end of the tour.

お昼は近くのサンドイッチレストランでしました。
派遣生も引率者も自分で注文し、支払いました。
We headed to a nearby restaurant for dinner. The kids (and even the chaperones)
ordered and pay for their meals all by themselves.

その後、YMCAという私営スポセンに行きました。
普段は有料ですが、無料で使わせてくれました。
去年の派遣生も、来年の派遣生（予定）も一緒に遊んで
楽しい時間を過ごしました。
After that, we headed over to the YMCA.
Usually you need to pay to use the facilities,but they let us use them for free.
We had a great time with Red Wing exchange students both past and future.

最初に登ってみたのはタクミさんでした。
問題なく上手に登れました。
The first person up the climbing wall was Takumi.
He did really well and climbed to the top without a problem.

「もっと難しいのをやってみたい」とナオユキは言いますと、
「じゃあ、この中級のコースをやってみてください」と指導員が案内しました。
Naoyuki said "Can I try something more difficult?"
"Sure, alright" said our instructor, " Here's the intermediate course?"

上手に上まで登れました。
He got to the top without a problem.

そして上級のコースを挑戦しました。
Then he tried the advanced course.

やはりちょっと難しくて、一番上まで登れませんでしたが、
岩登り初めてでしたってすごいですね。
As you might have guessed, it was a bit tough and he wasn't able to get all the
way to the top, still, considering it was the first time he had ever tried
rock climbing, he did really well.

その後バスケを遊びました。
レッドウィングの学生も一緒に遊びました。
After that they played basketball.
Even some Red Wing students joined us.

その後はプールで２時間以上遊びました。
After that everyone spent about two hours in the pool.

そしてまたバスケ
And then went back to playing basketball.

夕食を食べる前にレッドウィング市立図書館へ行きました。
ホストマザーのジェシカさんが図書館を案内してくれました。
We went to Red Wing's public library before heading out to dinner.
Jessica, one of this year's host mothers, showed us around the library. 

英訳された日本の漫画を発見したら、
みんな夢中になりました。
We found a few Japanese manga that had been translated into English,
and completely lost track of time.

雑誌も新聞もたくさんありました。
There were also a lot of magazines and newspapers to check out.

子供向けの教育ソフトいっぱい入っているiPadもありました。
派遣生は本によりipadにの方が興味があったみたいですけど、正直。
There were also a few iPads with educational software installed.
The kids seemed to have a bit more interest in these than the books, to be honest.

夕食はみんなそれぞれホストファミリーごとに食べました。
引率者は地元の家族経営レストランに行きました。
The students had dinner at their host family's homes.
The chaperones headed off to a local family-owned restaurant.

姉妹都市の友達という団体の団長のキャロルさんと一緒に食事をしました。
We had dinner with Carol, a member of Friends of Sister Cities.

レッドウィング市の派遣生（レストランではたらいています）
The two chaperones, Carol, and Vanessa
(Vanessa works at the restaurant and came to Ikata as an exchange student  in the past)
