Day 1: アメリカへ To the USA!

Hello from America!

　７月２５日（金）第１８回伊方中学生海外派遣団は伊方町を出発して、アメリカへ向かいました。松山空港、羽田空港、成田空港、そしていよいよシカゴオヘア空港、たくさんの空港を回って、とても忙しい一日でした。大きな問題もなく、シカゴオヘア空港での入国審査もとてもスムーズに笑顔で通れましたので、引率者として私は派遣生の前向きな姿勢と努力を素晴らしく思い、感動しました。

　写真はこの文書の下で２０枚を掲載します。同じ内容が日本語と英語で書いています。では、たくさんのコメントを楽しみに待っています。

第１８回伊方中学生海外派遣団のメンバー全員が揃っています。
たくさんの人が見送りに来てくれました。
伊方町の森口副町長と伊方町国際交流協会の廣瀬会長から
お別れの挨拶をいただいたら、早速松山空港へ向かって出発。

富士山を目撃！なかなかみえない風景で派遣生がとても喜んだ。
Mount Fuji Spotted! Everyone was really happy to see such  rare sight.

羽田空港からバスに載って成田空港へ移動。
From Haneda Airport we got on a bus to Narita Airport. 

搭乗する直前、荷物を預かってもらい、バスの番号を確認。
Just before getting on the bus, we check in our baggage and
confirm the bus number with the travel agent.

バスに搭乗したすぐ撮った写真です。
その後は、羽田空港の国際ターミナルにバスが寄り、
たくさんのアメリカ人が搭乗しました。早速外国に着いたという感じでした。

Soon after, the bus stopped by Haneda's International terminal
and a bunch of Americans boarded.
Right away, it felt like we were already in another country.

シカゴに到着したら、ツアーガイドに出迎えて、またバスに搭乗。
バスにWindy City（ウィンディーシティ）という文字が書いてありました。
シカゴはWindy City（風の街）と呼ばれ、風がよく吹くと言っています。
そういえば、シカゴ国際空港に着く直前、飛行機が結構風にふられました。
Once we arrived in Chicago, we were greeted by our tour guide and got on another bus.
On the side of the bus were the words Windy City. Chicago is
also known as the windy city because the wind is always blowing here.
That being said, the airplane did get tossed about quite a bit right before we landed.

シカゴオヘア国際空港から市内ホテルへの道は
高速道路ですが、金曜日のラッシュアワーだったので、
車が非常に多くてのろのろと走り進みました。
The road from Chicago O'Hare International Airport to
the hotel in the city is a freeway, but we moved along at a crawl
thanks to huge amount of cars and the Friday evening rush.

ホリデーインに着いたら、ルームキーの発行と
荷物がバスから降ろしてもらうまでロビーで集合。
We all gathered in the lobby of the Holiday Inn while our room keys
were being issued and the luggage being lifted out of the bus.

派遣生が疲れているとは見えないですよね。
ルームキーを渡して、夕飯の集合時間やWifiの使い方や引率者の連絡先を
全部説明して部屋へ向かいました。
The kids don't look a bit tired at all, don't they?
We passed along the keys, explained the gather time for dinner,
how to access the hotel's Wifi, and gave them the chaperone's
contact information, and they headed up to their rooms.

ホテルの駐車場でアメリカンスポーツカーニコニコと笑って私達を迎えていました。
An American sport scar was smiling to greet us in the parking lot of the hotel.

ツアーガイドさんにルームキーを渡して貰いました。
明日のシカゴ市内ツーをしてもらうのはこの方です。
We got our room keys from the tour guide.
She will be the one showing us around Chicago tomorrow.

夕食はホテル内のSunny'sというレストランで
大量のサラダに野菜炒めとポークチョップ、さらにマッシュポテト大盛。
おまけにバニラアイス。
イタリアンドレッシングは「きつい」と言っていましたが、
最後まで食べられました。

Dinner was at Sunny's Restaurant located in the hotel.
There was a big salad and some pan fried vegetables, a delicious pork chop,
an a big helping of mashed potatoes. There was even vanilla ice cream to boot.
Some remarked that the dressing had a really "strong" flavor to it
but most of the kids ate it all.
"You gotta have your vegetables", said Suzuka.

ポークチョップはちょっと脂っこいと言っていましたが、
これも完食した子供もいて、良かったねと思いました。
The pork chops were a bit on the sweet side, they said, but
I was happy to see that most of them were able to finish their meals.

「アイスの味が濃いけど、濃いの方が薄いよりいいよね」
という話も、いろいろたのしい話もできました。

明日は一日シカゴ市内で観光をします。ウィリスタワー、ネイビーピアー、シカゴ美術館、ミレニアム公園など、たくさんの名池を見てきます。では、Good night, from Chicago.
