Day 10: An Early Farewell 「10日目」早速、お別れ会

A day of interesting weather. Today there were spots of heavy rain so thick that I couldn't even see the hills just a few hundred meters away from the office. Not to mention the power even went out a couple times! Worried that the weather wouldn't hold, it was decided that the farewell party would be held inside. Mr. Hirose the Ikata International Exchange Association chair even made the yakisoba (fried noodles) himself!  (Which, by the way, the Red Wing students thought was delicious) It was a big party that took a lot of work and called for the help of many. Thanks to everyone, the whole thing went off without a hitch and we celebrated our new friendships in high-spirits. Today there are about 50 pictures, enjoy!

　今日は面白いお天気の多い日でした。雨が急に降ったり、急にやんだり、繰り返して降ったりしたお天気で、外で開催しかったお別れ会は仕方なく中へ移動することになりました。伊方町国際交流協会の廣瀬会長は美味しい焼きそばを作ってくれ、レッドウィング派遣生のみんなは「焼きそばおいしい！」と言っていました。準備は大変だったお別れ会、手伝ってくださった伊方町役場政策推進課のみなさんへ心からお礼を言います。おかげさまで、伊方町中学派遣生とレッドウィング派遣生はワイワイして、楽しいひと時を過ごしました。今日も写真をたくさんアップしましたよ。ゆっくりご覧ください！

ちょっと恐ろしい伊方町の夏のお天気

The local paper "Ehime Shinbun", had an article in it on Wednesday about the exchange students!
Foster's interview was even featured!
"The kids from Red Wing are in town until the 31st (oops, typo!)
and will, among other thing, be taking part in Japanese calligraphy and classes and other
field trips around town. On the 28th they will participate in Ikata's "Kinahaiya" Festival.
When asked what he thought about Ikata, 15 year-old Foster Johnson,
 smiling wide with  Japanese fan in hand, replied,
"The mountains of Ikata are beautiful and I am looking forward to the fireworks of the festival"

There is a concert in Misaki on the 27th.
Do the Red Wing kids know "Take me home, Country Roads"?

We used a "TEPPAN" or iron skillet to fry up the noodles that Mr. Hirose made earlier.
鉄板を使って、廣瀬会長が作ってくれた焼きそばを完成。

Mr. Sakamoto and I played a game trying to stack the charcoal as high as possible.
できるだけ炭を重ねてみると

あっ、しまった。

Everyone here? Host families, Red Wing students, Ikata Students, empty bellies.
みんなが集まっていますか。レッドウィング派遣生、伊方派遣生、
空いてるお腹。

A word of greeting and farewell from Mr. Sakamoto.
伊方町役場の政策推進課の坂本課長からの挨拶でお別れ会スタート。

We let the students sit wherever they wanted to,
as one might expect, it's nice to sit with people who speak the same language.
席は自由にしました。
やはり、同じ言葉で話す人と交流することが
一番楽ですよね。

A one-shot panorama. It was bright outside so the interior looks darker than it actually was.
Still, you really get an idea of the feel of the party, right?
お別れ会の最中に、私はこのパノラマを撮りました。
外は明るいので、中は暗く見えますが、実際に中も明るいでした。
このパノラマを見ますと、お別れ会の雰囲気がわかるじゃないでしょうか。
