ミシガン湖 Lake Michigan

今日はまずミシガン湖に行って観ました。ここはアドラー天文場という、もう一つの名所の近くにありますが、ほかにも色々な予定がありましたので入りはしませんでした。風が強く、ミシガン湖の波はとても高くて激しかったです。

The first place we went was the shore of Lake Michigan. This particular spot is close to the Adler Observatory and Planetarium, but since we had a lot of other sights planned, we didn't go in. You can see there was quite a high wind, making for rough waves on the lake.

風が冷たくて、チヒロとユウミはジャケットを一緒に着ていました。素敵な友達ですね！(背景にアドラー天文場が見えます。)

The wind was so cold that new best friends Chihiro and Yumi shared a jacket. (Adler Observatory is in the background.)

シカゴ観光 Sightseeing in Chicago

今日はご覧の通り、空が曇っていますが、温度は１日快適だそうです。

観光に行ってきます！

The skies today are overcast, but it's supposed to be a comfortable temperature outside.

We're heading out on our sightseeing tour!

シカゴ風ピザ Chicago-style Pizza

空港から移動した時はラッシュが始まる直前でしたから、市内に着くまでだいぶ時間がかかりました。ちょうど１７時に着いて、ホテルに荷物を下ろしてピザを食べに行きました。写真から子供たちの疲れがよく伝わることないですか？！

Our bus from the airport left just before the beginning of rush hour, so it took quite some time to get into the city proper. We arrived at our hotel at just 5pm, unloaded our luggage, and then made our way to a great pizza restaurant for dinner.

This picture really shows the kids' state of exhaustion!

まず、オリーブと赤玉ねぎが入った大きなサラダをファミリー風に分けて食べました。

First, everyone shared a simple and delicious salad with black olives and red onions.

それから、シカゴの有名なディープディッシュピザ！マッシュルームとペパローニ（サラミのような薄切り肉）のピザでした。

Then came a Chicago style deep-dish pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms!

最後にデザートとして、手作りのチョコチップクッキーが届きました！

この二人はとても可愛いですね〜

Last, for dessert, we had homemade chocolate chip cookies!

シカゴ到着 Arrival in Chicago

末光先生と竹上先生に導かれ、今日、伊方町の派遣生たちが無事に予定通りシカゴに到着しました。

Led by Mr. Takegami and Mrs. Suemitsu, the Ikata student delegation arrived in Chicago on time today.

迎えに現地ガイドのオルソンさんとジェサミンが来ていました。子供たちは明らかに疲れましたが、それでも元気に集まって専用バスに乗り、みんなでシカゴ市内へと向かいました。

Jessamine and our group's local guide, Mrs. Olson, were already waiting at the airport. The students were obviously tired out from the trip, but they quickly and quietly circled their suitcases to wait for everyone to arrive. Then we hopped on our tour bus and headed into Chicago!

Sad Day お別れが寂しい
